MACARD

Spring 2024 / 3 Credits Course
INDD 3150 Design Thinking: Products
Macard is a mahjong-type board game for all ages, especially the visually impaired. The design concept revolves around portability, touch enhancement, cultural inheritance, and attraction. The oval design is easier to hold. Compared to traditional card games, the Macard has a reduced size, and the oval can easily fit into tight spaces, making it more portable. Simplified visualization of conventional patterns, frosted front and smooth back, and raised braille help visually impaired persons to recognize cards and provide equal communication opportunities for different groups, eliminating discrimination and misunderstanding of visual barriers. By simplifying the rules of traditional mahjong and cooperating with well-known anime, young people can be exposed to conventional culture and inheritance, and the value of Macard's collection can be increased.
